Earlier in June I made a celebratory thread on Chiyochan about how a Google car drove past me while I was eating a pizza. I was really psyched about being on Google Maps since I was wearing a cool outfit that day, I was being extra cool by eating a pizza, and I even did a peace sign to the driver when he drove by me a second time which he acknowledged by doing a head nod.

The day that happened, I made the Chiyochan thread in the library and started frequenting the spot I was at on Google Maps. Since then, my thread got vaporized when Chiyochan went offline for a bit, and the 2024 snapshot that Google submitted for the spot was from March instead of June.

I think Google makes a stockpile of different snapshots for areas over a long period of time, and whenever they need to submit a new snapshot for an area they pick out whatever the best new one is. Apparently mine wasn’t the best one :C

Update: I think I should clarify and say that it was a Google maps car with a big tripod on it and not just a generic car with Google branding all over it
